Last year we all missed out on getting together as a team and competing in our annual cross country series with local running clubs. But 2021 is a new year and with that, planning has started for the 2021 Pete Glavin Cross Country Series.
Coach Buttermaker was contacted by the series directors and was asked if we could host a 5k this year. Upon deliberation with other Pulsar leaders, we have decided to host a race.
The last time the Pulsars hosted a XC series race was back in 2000. Representing the locals, at Holland Stadium that day were: Jamie Simmonds, Dan Littlejohn, Peter Davis, Patrick O’Grady, Mary Bushallow, Dan Townsend, Timothy Bachman, Leon Oaks-Lee, Scott Zimmer, Ed Wagner, Dale Robson, and Ted Parker. Dan “Mr. Pulsar” Townsend was the only Pulsar who ran that day who is still a currently on the team.
Currently we have selected the September 26th slot pending any changes due to covid. We have contacted Everest Park on North Rd. and are working on getting our course set up there. It has great fields and trails as well as facilities. You might recognize that this is the location of the Finger Lakes Mud Run.
For updates and discussions about the event and volunteering, please join our Facebook group. If you are a local and would like to join the team, contact coach Buttermaker (Don “Bob” Miller).
We are excited for this opportunity and look forward to a great turnout! Spread the news and see you there!
